The pupfish is a very small, about 2.5 inches long, shiny fish with 6 to 9 dark lines on it's belly. They have a short ,scaled head with an upside down smile :-( The parents will eat the baby pupfish as soon as they are born, so many pupfish do not survive. If they do live, they will live about 6 to 9 month.
Habitat
Warm desert pools, marshes, streams and springs.
Food:
Pupfish eat algae, brown and green. In the winter, when the water is cold, they hibernate in the muddy bottom of their home. In the spring, when the water is warm, the male pupfish become blue to attract the females and chase off all the other males..
